The construction of the bunker system, which continued in the 1950s during the Cold War, began in the 1940s. It was a large-scale construction in the beautiful village of County Zala, surrounded by hills, in the depths of the earth, as a small stretch of the nearly 630 km defensive line on the southern border of the country from Őrség to Szeged. The bunker, which is several kilometers long, is planned to be renovated and used for tourism purposes, but it is already available for bunker tours. The approx. 13 km hike from Lovászi goes first to the old border guard barracks, from there to the newly renovated Sári spring. Then you will see a Yugoslavian bunker on the Slovenian border, and then a gun bunker in the section called Kerekes-lap. From here the following interestig place is the refuge in Egervölgy, then the Air-raid shelter, which was built in 1952 by the miners from Tatabánya. It is nearly 1 km long, and has got three entrances including a former operating room and its own drilled well. The end station is the bunker on the housing estate, where 125 stairs lead underground. Opposite the entrance, sirens are also visible above the surface.
